Tests for transverse or longitudinal tension, flattening, hardness, or bend Tests must be conducted on 5% of the pipe from each treated lot for material that has been heat treated in a batch furnace. In small lots, a minimum of one pipe needs to be examined. Tests must be performed on enough pipes to make up 5% of the lot, but never fewer than two pipes, for material that is heat treated continuously. Impact Test using Hydrostatic Test Three specimens from each heat representative in a heat-treatment load must be broken in a single notched bar impact test using specimens obtained from the completed pipe.
The following techniques must be applied to all seamless and welded pipe in order to manage their microstructure: Normalization in accordance with A 333/A 333M-05 sections 4.2.1.1, 4.2.1.2, or 4.2.1.3 Double Normalized and Tempered per A 333/A 333M – 05 section 4.2.2.2 Quenched and Tempered per A 333/A 333M .
